Sheena has been providing care and companionship for my elderly mum Sheila for just over a year now. She is kind and caring, always willing to adapt to mum’s needs. Sheena has a really good understanding of the needs of elderly people, including those with dementia. Sheena is a positive influence with a lovely sense of humour. Mum really enjoys her company and looks forward to her visits. Sheena is versatile in the kind of companionship she provides, always putting Mum’s needs and personal requirements at the centre of her care. For example visits include trips to garden centres, walks in Roath Park and other gardens or parks of interest in the Cardiff area; often these outings include stopping at a café for tea and cake or brunch. On other occasions she will sit with mum to do jigsaws or play cards or board games to engage mum’s interest. In addition, Sheena has helped to solve problems that have arisen e.g visiting the optician to fix a lens that has fallen out and bringing comfort on days when mum needs cheering up. I also appreciate Sheena’s willingness to communicate effectively and sensitively with close family members.

Sheena has been helping my parents since October 2024 and continues to be a fantastic support to them both. Initially booked as a companion for my mum, diagnosed with Alzheimer’s 3 years ago; her regular visits are of comfort to both my parents each week. Her friendly, cheerful and flexible approach means she quickly fitted into their lives and is now considered part of the family! Her lived experience with Alzheimers from caring for her own mother is helpful too, her patience is fantastic! We know the months ahead will continue to be tough but it’s of great comfort to the wider family, who live away from Cardiff to know that Sheena can be an extra pair of eyes and ears at the house each week.

Sheena has been a great friend and companion to my mum over the last two and a half years. She is kind, has a fantastic sense of humour, very reliable. My mother actively looks forward to seeing her. Sheena is a ray of sunlight! She is honest, hardworking and creative. She has knitted, painted, cooked, done the washing, watched telly, taken mum to the park, out for a coffee and much more. As mum has deteriorated with Alzheimer's Sheena now visits the hospital, helps mum to eat, moisturises her face and rubs cream into her hands. Sheena has been invaluable for my sister and I making life for us so much easier.

Sheena gave wonderful companionship to my parents. She brought them lovely cakes, cards on their birthday and presents for Christmas. As they got older they gradually lost their friends and that companionship. So when Sheena came into their lives she gave them much joy. She is an extremely caring, kind and genuine person. On the times I had a break from caring for my parents I knew they were in safe hands with her. She always had interesting and funny stories to share and discuss.

Sheena is wonderful with my 90-year-old mother who has Alzheimer's. She is kind, caring, patient, and, most importantly, has a great sense of humour. Nothing is too much trouble and she is very flexible. Above all, I trust her completely and can go out for a few hours to have some much-needed time on my own in the knowledge that my mum will be having a lovely time with Sheena. She may forget Sheena's name sometimes but she always remembers her as 'the nice lady' and looks forward to her visits.

My name is Mrs M J Edwards. I am currently having treatment for cancer and in my 89th year. With the combination of ill health and the COVID situation I needed help in day to day chores and have benifited since the end of last summer. Sheena was a very good find! I benefited not only from help in the house(to a very high standard) but with every possible assistence physically and mentally. Nothing is too much trouble I can ring day or night and help is at hand, all this has given me sympathetic and caring manner. I feel I have been given a new lease of life.

Over the pas 12 months Sheena has been helping my Mum, Joyce, aged 91, who has suffered from a stroke and my Dad, Norman, aged 93 who has early onset dementia. I can honestly say I do not know how we would cope without her help and support. Sheena is a kind, caring, funny and totally reliable. Sheena provides practical help with many tasks including meals, shopping, cleaning and hospital visits to name a few. Sheena has got Mum singing along to her favorite songs, she plays cards with my Dad and provides both my Mum and Dad with companionship and she has become a genuine friend to the whole family.
